JTNL #2

I remember the date of the second time I saw JTNL because it was 2 days before my birthday.  A big group of us went to Hoots again.  By now I had JTNL Hot Trottin' CD memorized and could not wait to jam out.  Me and my friend Liz from Lubbock were dancing and singing along.  This show was better than the 1st because I was already in love and knew what to expect.  After the show we got hotel rooms because none of us lived in town.  I went to the room with Jared, his girlfriend, my brother Jermo and two other girls.  I get a text from a friend saying "Save me, I am in the parking lot" so I go rescue my friend
from this random chick and we head back to his place after looking for other friend who's truck got towed that night.  At 5am we get a phone call from our friend saying he was walking down Coulter, which is a long way from the hotel.  We go pick him up and head to bed.  This night was a blast.  JTNL rocked it, my heart grew fonder of them after this show. The picture on the top is JTNL at Hoots that night and on the bottom is the group jammin to them.  Enjoy! Ashlee

Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights Gig #1

I first saw Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights some time Spring 2009 at a small dive bar in Amarillo, TX.  My friend Jared Thomas, who at the time was driving back and forth from here to Lewisville, introduced to their music.  I grew up in a small farming community of 900 people 30 minutes due west of Amarillo. Most concerts I had been to at this point were Texas country or Red Dirt as its sometimes called. I really didn't know what to expect of this Dallas band. Jared insured me that I would fall in love with them and sure enough he was right.  These guys blow my socks plum to China every time I see them.  I am on gig #7 right now, like I said they are my new addiction.  The bar we went to is called Hoots, a small hole in the wall.  This venue isn't the greatest by far but one thing I do love about it, is how intimate it is. There was probably about 30 people there if that.  We sat up close and personal.  At the time the band consisted of Jonathan Tyler on vocals/guitar, Kansas on lead guitar/back up vocals, Nick Jay on bass/back up vocals, and Jordan Cain on drums.  They all dressed very different from what I am used to in the panhandle, but I found it so refreshing and hip.  Each with hair down past their shoulders, they immediately grasp my attention.  When JT opened his mouth I was in utter shock, I am used the Texas twang country sound.  Jonathan had soul, it was like he pulling it from his toes.  I had never heard music like this live and it was astounding.  After the show Jared introduced me to the JTNL and each one of them was genuinely nice and down to earth, just my kinda of people. I will have pictures of the concerts from here on out this is the only concert I have gone to and not taken pics of the bands.  So this is a image of me and my best friend Steph after the concert and I was grinning ear to ear with pure happiness.  I had fallen head over heels in love with JTNL music. It something different but compelling. Gig #2 to come...I'm out like a light. Enjoy! Ashlee

Intro to me...

Well I'll start off by introducing myself, I'm Ashlee aka all around bad ass.  I'm kidding.  I've had a thing for music since I was a baby.  My mother said I would be crying and she would set me in front of MTV and I would instantly be in a trance.  Now mind you this is back when MTV actually played music.  I went to my first BIG concert at the ripe age of 13, it was ZZ Top at the time I had no recollection of who they were.  I have always turned to music for therapy, lyrics are therapist teaching me about life and so forth.  I have recently turned into a concert junkie.  I am not your typical fan, when I fall in love with band they become my addiction.  I fill my ears and life with their music, lyrics, and knowledge.  I've learned that I cannot do things half way, it's either all or nothing.  I'm writing this blog to share my memories and stories of the concerts I have gone to.  After chatting with a amazingly talented musician and writer (Emotion Brown), she led me onto the idea.  So now here I am blogging...I am not the greatest writer so please bear with me. I'm going to one band at a time because I cannot remember the chronological order of anything. Enjoy! Ashlee
